NO HOLDS BARRED: Miguel Cotto-Zab Judah Preview

On this special edition of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman previews the fight this Saturday night, June 9, between undefeated WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (29-0, 24 KOs) and the former unified welterweight champion, Zab Judah (34-4, 25 KOs). This will be the main event at New York's Madison Square Garden and will take place one day before the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade, and one day after the annual awards dinner of the Boxing Writers Association of America, both of which will also be in New York.
We spoke with the defending champion, Miguel Cotto, on a media teleconference call.
We spoke with Zab Judah at the prefight news conference this Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.
We also spoke with promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank, which is the lead promoter for this event, both about this fight and his views on the state of boxing and UFC.
We spoke with head boxing writer Dan Rafael of ESPN.com and New York TV personality Kristal Hart of Manhattan Neighborhood Network about how they see this fight and also about mixed martial arts.
And, on a lighter note, we spoke with two ring girls for this fight who come from a different world from most ring girls, Tarah Rodgers and Jennifer Ohlsson, who are both Ford models.

NO HOLDS BARRED: Rich Bender of USA Wrestling on 2007 World Team Trials and Working with IFL

USA Wrestling will be holding the 2007 United States Marine Corps U.S. World Team Trials this coming weekend, Saturday, June 9, and Sunday, June 10, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Besides competition in men's freestyle, men's Greco-Roman, and women's freestyle wrestling, this will be the first World Team Trials to feature competition in grappling, where wrestlers can win by points or submissions.
The 2007 World Team Trials will determine the 2007 U.S. World Team that will compete in men's freestyle, men's Greco-Roman, and women's freestyle wrestling at the 2007 World Wrestling Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 17-23, and in grappling at the 2007 World Wrestling Games in Antalya, Turkey, Sept. 7-9.
We spoke with Rich Bender about the 2007 World Team Trials. We also discussed USA Wrestling's recent announcement of the formation of "a strategic partnership" with the International Fight League (IFL) and what that means.

Lou DiBella, Eddie Goldman and Aaron Braunstein On "Joey Reynolds Show" Monday Night/Tuesday Morning

We expect to discuss the new documentary film "The Magic Man" about junior welterweight contender Paulie "The Magic Man" Malignaggi. "The Magic Man" has its premiere Tuesday night, June 5, at the Hoboken International Film Festival in Hoboken, New Jersey. Paulie (22-1, 5 KOs) next fights Saturday, June 16, when he challenges IBF junior welterweight champion Lovemore N'dou (45-8-1, 30 KOs) in a title fight at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and on HBO in the U.S.
The "Joey Reynolds Show" is heard on over 80 radio stations. This talk show airs live beginning at midnight EDT and runs to 5 AM EDT, on WOR 710 AM in New York. We are presently scheduled to come on towards the end of the show.

On this week's edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman begins by reviewing the 12-round unanimous decision victory this past Saturday night, June 2, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, by Sultan Ibragimov (21-0-1, 17 KOs) over Shannon Briggs (48-5-1, 42 KOs) to capture the WBO world heavyweight title from Briggs.
Right after the fight, we spoke with the victorious new champion, Sultan Ibragimov, and his trainer, Jeff Mayweather, to get their evaluations about what had occurred. We also spoke with undefeated rising welterweight Shamone Alvarez (18-0, 11 KOs), who took a 12-round unanimous decision over veteran Jose Luis Cruz (32-3-2, 26 KOs) on that card.
We next preview this coming weekend's fights.
