SecondsOut Radio: Miguel Cotto, Zab Judah, Manny Pacquiao, Steve Cunningham
On this week's edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman begins by reviewing the brutal battle between WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (30-0, 25 KOs) and the former unified welterweight champion, Zab Judah (34-5, 25 KOs), before a jubilant sellout crowd of 20,658 at New York's Madison Square Garden this past Saturday night, June 9.
In a competitive battering which left both men's faces cut, swollen, and bleeding, and a certain fight of the year nominee, Cotto won by scoring a TKO over Judah in the 11th round. This fight helped establish Cotto as a legitimate superstar in the sport of boxing while also reestablishing Judah's credentials as a tough and top-level fighter.
We got the comments of both Miguel Cotto and Zab Judah at the packed postfight press conference.
We also spoke with Manny Pacquiao, whose two stoppages of Erik Morales last year led to him being voted the 2006 Fighter of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America. He was in New York to receive this award at the BWAA's annual dinner this past Friday night. And we also spoke at this dinner with the new IBF cruiserweight champion, Steve Cunningham, who captured that title from Krzysztof Wlodarczyk May 26 in Katowice, Poland.
