Eddie Goldman On "Joey Reynolds Show" Thursday Night/Friday Morning Discussing Saturday's Garden Fights

I will be a guest on the nationally-syndicated "Joey Reynolds Show" Thursday night/Friday morning, Nov. 9/10.

The topic will be Saturday night's big boxing card at Madison Square Garden featuring the title defense by IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (46-3, 41 KOs) against the undefeated challenger, Calvin Brock (29-0, 22 KOs), and the Madison Square Garden debut of the unbeaten WBC and WIBA super middleweight champion Laila Ali (22-0, 19 KOs), who is considered by most observers as the best female boxer in the world today. When Laila Ali fights challenger Shelley Burton (8-2-1, 2 KOs) in a title bout, her legendary father, the one and only Muhammad Ali, is slated to be in attendance.

The "Joey Reynolds Show" is heard on over 80 radio stations. This talk show airs live beginning at midnight and runs to 5 AM ET, on WOR 710 AM in New York. I am presently scheduled to come on at about 2 AM EST.

NO HOLDS BARRED: Wladimir Klitschko, Emanuel Steward, Floyd Mayweather Sr.

  • NO HOLDS BARRED on PodOmatic

  • In the third show this week of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman gets some final thoughts in about the huge boxing show taking place this Saturday, November 11, at Madison Square Garden in New York.

At the final prefight news conference held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Garden, we spoke with the IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (46-3, 41 KOs) about how he views his fight with his undefeated challenger, Calvin Brock (29-0, 22 KOs). We also spoke with Klitschko's trainer Emanuel Steward about how he sees this fight and Klitschko's place in the heavyweight division. We also hear a poem read at the press conference by trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. about his fighter, the unbeaten WBC and WIBA super middleweight champion, Laila Ali (22-0, 19 KOs). She is considered by most as the best female boxer in the world today, and, in her Madison Square Garden debut, will fight Shelley Burton (8-2-1, 2 KOs) in a title bout.

We also discuss what must be done to end the confusion in the heavyweight division, where a quickly changing cast of fighters each separately holds belts from the four largest sanctioning bodies, and how an undisputed heavyweight champion of the world can emerge. And we comment once again on the decision by HBO not to televise Laila Ali's fight in the U.S., even though it will be seen on the German and international telecasts of this show.

NO HOLDS BARRED: Evander Holyfield, Fres Oquendo, Vitali Klitschko, Laila Ali, Floyd Mayweather Sr., Calvin Brock

  • NO HOLDS BARRED on PodOmatic

  • On a second edition this week of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman discusses the upcoming boxing cards which will take place this weekend.

We first preview the fight this Friday night, November 10, between former world heavyweight champion, the 44-year-old Evander Holyfield (39-8-2, 26 KOs), and Fres Oquendo (26-3, 16 KOs), which will take place in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and will be shown on pay-per-view. We spoke with Holyfield and Oquendo on a media conference call.

We next preview the main fights which will take place this coming Saturday, November 11, at Madison Square Garden in New York. At a public workout Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Grand Central Station, we caught up with the former WBC and WBO world heavyweight champion and now-retired fighter Vitali Klitschko, whose brother Wladimir is defending his IBF title. We spoke with the unbeaten WBC and WIBA super middleweight champion Laila Ali (22-0, 19 KOs), who is also regarded by many observers as being the best female boxer in the world today, who, in her Madison Square Garden debut, will fight Shelley Burton (8-2-1, 2 KOs) in a title bout. We spoke with her trainer, the former world champion Floyd Mayweather Sr., about how he ranks Laila Ali, as well as getting comments on the recent performance of his son, welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., and what he will do if his son does fight Oscar De La Hoya, whom Floyd Sr. trains, next year. And we also spoke with the undefeated former Olympian Calvin Brock (29-0, 22 KOs) about his title fight this Saturday night with Wladimir Klitschko.

NO HOLDS BARRED: Stephen Quadros on the IFL

  • NO HOLDS BARRED on PodOmatic

  • On this week's edition of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman discusses that rising mixed martial arts organization, the International Fight League (IFL), with their lead television announcer, "The Fight Professor" Stephen Quadros.

We discuss the IFL's World Team Championship semifinals, which were held November 2 at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon, and won by the Silverbacks based in the Quad Cities, Iowa/Ill., and the Wolfpack of Portland. These two teams now advance to the IFL World Team Championship Final, which will be held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Friday, Dec. 29, and shown the next day in the U.S. on FSN (Fox Sports Net). We also discuss some more general issues regarding the direction taken by the IFL, including their rules and their unique concept of presenting team competition in the mixed martial arts.

Stephen also has his own web site and page on MySpace.com.

I have also been interviewed several times in the recent weeks. I was quoted in an article about the IFL called "A league of their own" by Dunstan Prial on Northjersey.com on Sunday, October 29, 2006. This is the web site of The Record and Herald News newspapers. I also was a guest on the syndicated Joey Reynolds Show on WOR radio on October 26. And I was a guest on a recent edition of Fight Opinion Radio, which can be heard here.

SecondsOut Radio: Wladimir Klitschko, Laila Ali, Calvin Brock, David Tua, Joe Greene, Pete Quillin

  • SecondsOut Radio with Eddie Goldman

  • On this week's packed edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman reviews some of this past weekend's fights and previews what is on tap this coming weekend.

We open by discussing the masterful performance by Floyd Mayweather Jr. (37-0, 24 KOs), who captured the WBC and linear welterweight title Saturday, November 4, by dominating Carlos Baldomir (43-10-6, 13 KOs) with a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision in Las Vegas. We then discuss the dramatic last-second TKO victory by Shannon Briggs (48-4-1, 42 KOs), also on Saturday, November 4, to take the WBO heavyweight championship from Sergei Liakhovich (23-2, 14 KOs) in Phoenix, Arizona. Plus, we address the criticisms made by some in the media of all these fighters and their respective fights.

Next, we review some of the fights from the Gotham Boxing card this past Friday, November 3, at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. We speak with former heavyweight contender David Tua (46-3-1, 40 KOs), who won his fight by a seventh-round stoppage, and unbeaten prospects super middleweight Joe Greene (14-0, 8 KOs) and middleweight Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin (8-0, 7 KOs), who each won their bouts by stoppages as well.

Last but far from least, we preview the main fights which will take place this coming Saturday, November 11, at Madison Square Garden in New York. We speak with IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (46-3, 41 KOs) and his challenger, Calvin Brock (29-0, 22 KOs), about their title fight. And we speak with the unbeaten WBC and WIBA super middleweight champion Laila Ali (22-0, 19 KOs), who is also regarded by many observers as being the best female boxer in the world today, who, in her Madison Square Garden debut, fights Shelley Burton (8-2-1, 2 KOs) in a title bout.
