SecondsOut Radio: Winky Wright, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Carlos Quintana, Joshua Clottey

  • SecondsOut Radio with Eddie Goldman

  • On this week's edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman previews the two competing cards which will be presented live on American television at the same time this coming Saturday night, December 2.

We speak with one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world today, Winky Wright (37-3-1, 25 KOs), who fights former world welterweight champion Ike Quartey (37-3-1, 31 KOs) at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida, in a middleweight contest. This bout will headline the live telecast Saturday on HBO in the U.S.

We speak with the undefeated fighters Miguel Cotto (27-0, 22 KOs) and Carlos Quintana (23-0, 18 KOs), who battle for the vacant WBA welterweight belt at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, also on Saturday, December 2. And we speak with WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (33-4, 1 NC, 24 KOs), who also on that card defends his title against Joshua Clottey (30-1, 20 KOs).

The Miguel Cotto-Carlos Quintana and Antonio Margarito-Joshua Clottey fights will be shown in the U.S. live on Showtime.

We also discuss why, despite the unquestionable talent of these fighters, it is not good for boxing that these live telecasts are programmed directly against each other.
