SecondsOut Radio: Wladimir Klitschko, Laila Ali, Calvin Brock, David Tua, Joe Greene, Pete Quillin

  • SecondsOut Radio with Eddie Goldman

  • On this week's packed edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman reviews some of this past weekend's fights and previews what is on tap this coming weekend.

We open by discussing the masterful performance by Floyd Mayweather Jr. (37-0, 24 KOs), who captured the WBC and linear welterweight title Saturday, November 4, by dominating Carlos Baldomir (43-10-6, 13 KOs) with a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision in Las Vegas. We then discuss the dramatic last-second TKO victory by Shannon Briggs (48-4-1, 42 KOs), also on Saturday, November 4, to take the WBO heavyweight championship from Sergei Liakhovich (23-2, 14 KOs) in Phoenix, Arizona. Plus, we address the criticisms made by some in the media of all these fighters and their respective fights.

Next, we review some of the fights from the Gotham Boxing card this past Friday, November 3, at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. We speak with former heavyweight contender David Tua (46-3-1, 40 KOs), who won his fight by a seventh-round stoppage, and unbeaten prospects super middleweight Joe Greene (14-0, 8 KOs) and middleweight Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin (8-0, 7 KOs), who each won their bouts by stoppages as well.

Last but far from least, we preview the main fights which will take place this coming Saturday, November 11, at Madison Square Garden in New York. We speak with IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (46-3, 41 KOs) and his challenger, Calvin Brock (29-0, 22 KOs), about their title fight. And we speak with the unbeaten WBC and WIBA super middleweight champion Laila Ali (22-0, 19 KOs), who is also regarded by many observers as being the best female boxer in the world today, who, in her Madison Square Garden debut, fights Shelley Burton (8-2-1, 2 KOs) in a title bout.
