NO HOLDS BARRED: Stephen Quadros on the IFL
On this week's edition of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman discusses that rising mixed martial arts organization, the International Fight League (IFL), with their lead television announcer, "The Fight Professor" Stephen Quadros.
We discuss the IFL's World Team Championship semifinals, which were held November 2 at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon, and won by the Silverbacks based in the Quad Cities, Iowa/Ill., and the Wolfpack of Portland. These two teams now advance to the IFL World Team Championship Final, which will be held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Friday, Dec. 29, and shown the next day in the U.S. on FSN (Fox Sports Net). We also discuss some more general issues regarding the direction taken by the IFL, including their rules and their unique concept of presenting team competition in the mixed martial arts.
Stephen also has his own web site and page on MySpace.com.
I have also been interviewed several times in the recent weeks. I was quoted in an article about the IFL called "A league of their own" by Dunstan Prial on Northjersey.com on Sunday, October 29, 2006. This is the web site of The Record and Herald News newspapers. I also was a guest on the syndicated Joey Reynolds Show on WOR radio on October 26. And I was a guest on a recent edition of Fight Opinion Radio, which can be heard here.
