SecondsOut Radio: Edgar Santana, James McGirt Jr., James "Buddy" McGirt Sr., Lou DiBella
On this week's edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman begins by commenting on the international significance for the sport of boxing of this past Saturday's third-round knockout victory in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, by super featherweight Manny Pacquiao (43-3-2, 33 KOs) from Kibawe, Philippines, over Erik Morales (48-5, 34 KOs) from Tijuana, Mexico. We also point out how this fight appears to have made Pacquiao, our guest on this show last week, as the frontrunner to be named Fighter of the Year for 2006.
We also speak with a fighter who may be on the verge of making it into the big time, junior welterweight prospect Edgar Santana (20-2, 13 KOs). He scored an impressive third-round TKO over a game Meacher Major (11-3-1, 10 KOs) on the Broadway Boxing card held at New York's Manhattan Center this past Wednesday, November 15.
We speak with another young prospect, middleweight/super middleweight James McGirt Jr. (12-0, 1 NC, 7 KOs). He has just signed with promoter Lou DiBella and will make his Broadway Boxing debut December 14. We also speak with his father and trainer, former world champion James "Buddy" McGirt Sr., about how this father-son combination will work. And we speak with promoter Lou DiBella about this past Wednesday's card as well as what is next for Broadway Boxing and his fighters.
