On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman speaks with Jacqui Snow, our correspondent and the technical consultant for No Holds Barred. She is also a moderator of the very popular MySpace Boxing Forum, which has over eight thousand members.

For almost two weeks, No Holds Barred was unable to be produced because of an attack by viruses and adware gotten from a pop-up ad on a sleazy boxing web site.

In a lengthy and animated interview, we discuss just what happened with this virus and adware attack, what steps can be taken to avoid and prevent such attacks, and why certain web sites stoop to trying to make money by such predatory practices.

We also discuss the growing importance of social media sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter, and how they are transforming the way fans of the combat sports get information and communicate with each other. We also comment on the continuing, pathetic ignorance of and resistance to social media by most of the boxing establishment, along with many other issues.

I should have my main computer back from being fixed in a couple of days. It went down from a virus/adware combination gotten from a pop-up ad from a Fastclick ad on Boxing Scene. Beware both of those.

Then I have to reinstall some programs and reset a lot of settings. I hope to be able to restart producing shows by later this week. So look out, friends and foes alike, as I have a lot to say!

A few months ago, I was briefly knocked offline by a hardware problem, a blown power supply on my main computer. That was taken care of, but now I face another and different problem: a virus, and one apparently picked up from an ad on a boxing web site.

When I get my computer back from repair, I'll be able to explain more about this in detail. For now, I just have to report that production of my shows has been slowed down. SecondsOut Radio was posted on time this week, but No Holds Barred has been delayed. Ironically, that edition of the show was supposed to discuss issues like the role of social networking and social media in the combat sports. Now we will have to add some discussion of the proliferation of adware, spyware, and viruses in ads on certain combat sports sites, and how to avoid them. So we will be back up and running soon, and feistier than ever.
