No Holds Barred: Kenny Garner Prepares For M-1 Global Heavyweight Title Fight
On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman speaks with mixed martial arts fighter and former wrestler Kenny "Deuce" Garner, the M-1 Global Selection Americas heavyweight champion. He will next fight for the M-1 Global heavyweight title on the M-1 Challenge XXI card on Thursday, October 28, at the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, against the unbeaten Guram Gugenishvili, the M-1 Selection Western Europe heavyweight champion.
The M-1 Challenge XXI card will be webcast for free and live on Thursday, October 28, at http://www.M-1Global.com. The webcast will start at 7:30 PM MSD (Moscow Daylight Time), or 11:30 AM EDT/8:30 AM PDT in North America.
We spoke with Kenny Garner, who trains at the American Top Team facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida, Wednesday by phone about what to expect in this fight, which is easily the biggest of his career. Confident and outspoken as always, he explained why he believes that he will emerge victorious over Guram Gugenishvili, who is based in Ukraine. He discussed his rapid rise in the heavyweight division, when and why he started training with American Top Team, and how he has turned his fighting career around this year with three impressive victories. We also sized up how he might do against the new Bellator heavyweight champion, Cole Konrad, and much more.
