SecondsOut Radio: John Duddy, Anthony Peterson, Matt Vanda, Maureen Shea
On this week's edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman begins by discussing how, in light of all the recent scandals and mishaps, boxing is like a friend who is also a criminal, and who never fails to disappoint.
Next, we continue our preview of the February 21 pay-per-view card, headlined by middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (34-1, 30 KOs) facing Marco Antonio Rubio (43-4-1, 37 KOs) at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown, Ohio, and former welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (32-1, 26 KOs) taking on Michael Jennings (34-1, 16 KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York.
There is also a full fight card at Madison Square Garden. In a middleweight bout, the popular John Duddy (25-0, 17 KOs) fights Matt Vanda (39-8, 22 KOs). In a lightweight bout, rising star Anthony Peterson (28-0, 19 KOs) takes on Edner Cherry (24-6-2, 12 KOs). And in a bout for the vacant WBA female super featherweight title, Maureen Shea (13-0, 7 KOs) fights Kina Malpartida (8-3, 1 KO).
At a prefight news conference at Madison Square Garden, we spoke with John Duddy, Anthony Peterson, Matt Vanda, and Maureen Shea about their fights and their careers.
