NO HOLDS BARRED: John Perretti on Rampage-Liddell 2, and UFC and Extreme Fighting, Old and New
On this edition of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman once again speaks with a true pioneer and legend in mixed martial arts, and an old friend: John Perretti.
We discuss this past Saturday's TKO victory by Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in his rematch with Chuck Liddell at UFC 71; John's role in the development of the basic structure of MMA in introducing rounds and weight classes and helping design the gloves used in the sport; some lessons from the early days of Extreme Fighting and UFC; his views on technique and conditioning in MMA today; and a hint of what his immediate plans are.
For those new to the sport, John Perretti was one of the founders and the matchmaker of Battlecade Extreme Fighting, which ran from 1995 to 1997, and put on some classic shows. After that, he became the matchmaker for the UFC until January 2001.

Excellent interview telling it like it is. It is also great to see Gene LeBell get some of the credit he deserves. A lot of these guys out there would be decades behind without Gene LeBell and what he has done to promote the mixed martial arts, even before they were called that. You should be interviewing Gene LeBell after every single fight and get his deep experienced views on them. Go visig Gene's website www.GeneLeBell.com
