No Holds Barred: CRAZY
On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman discusses Tyson Fury's seventh-round stoppage of Deontay Wilder on February 22 in the biggest fight so far of 2020 and for the heavyweight division. Fury is now clearly the consensus top heavyweight in the world. What this fight meant for both fighters and for boxing, as well as what might be and should be next in the unresolved quest to crown an undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, are all examined.

No Holds Barred: Frank Lotierzo on Wilder-Fury 2
On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman spoke with boxing analyst Frank Lotierzo.
Our discussion focused on the most important fight both in the heavyweight division and in boxing in general this year, the February 22 rematch between undefeated fighters Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. This fight will be shown on pay-per-view and streamed live in several countries, and take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
We spoke with Frank Lotierzo by phone Wednesday.
Calling this fight "unfinished business" because of the highly controversial split draw outcome of the first Wilder-Fury fight in December 2018, he said, like the great majority of observers, that he thought Fury deserved to win that fight on points. But the rematch, he argued, may end differently if Fury's skills have declined more than Wilder's have since then. He did add that Wilder is often viewed as "a one-trick pony" whose sole effective weapon is a right hand thrown from the right distance, meaning that Fury's best hope is box, move, and elude that right hand for 12 full rounds.
We discussed why the outcome of this evenly-matched fight is hard to predict, the various scenarios of how this fight might play out and differ from their first fight, why Fury's boasting that he will knock out Wilder is one of the least likely outcomes, what each fighter has to do to win, how Fury possibly coming in at a heavier weight than he did for their first fight may affect him, what a victory for either fighter will mean for boxing and the heavyweights, why Anthony Joshua should be ringside for this fight to challenge the winner, and much, much more.

No Holds Barred: Can King Kong Conquer Wilder In Their Rematch?
On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman discusses the upcoming rematch between WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs) and challenger Luis "King Kong" Ortiz (31-1, 2 ND, 26 KOs). This takes place Saturday, November 23, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It will be shown in the U.S. on Fox pay-per-view and in the U.K. on Sky Sports.
Their first fight took place March 3, 2018, in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. In what had been an exciting and close fight, Wilder dropped Ortiz twice in the tenth round to earn a TKO win and retain his belt.
Both fighters had been undefeated at the time of their first fight, so the question remains whether or not Ortiz can determine why he lost and make adjustments. Their first fight is analyzed, including the role of Ortiz's conditioning, as he faded as that fight went on. The factors that may, or may not, be different in the rematch are discussed here, and much more.

No Holds Barred: Floyd Mayweather, Marcos Maidana, Jeff Mayweather
(Photo: Stephanie Trapp/Showtime)
On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman spoke with Floyd Mayweather, Marcos Maidana, and Jeff Mayweather.
The subject was the rematch between the 37-year-old Floyd Mayweather (46-0, 26 KOs) and the 31-year-old Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs), which takes place Saturday, September 13, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This fight is scheduled for 12 rounds in the welterweight division, and will be for Mayweather's WBA welterweight belt and WBC welterweight and super welterweight belts.
It will be shown live on Showtime Pay-Per-View in the U.S., BoxNation in the U.K., Main Event Pay-Per-View in Australia, and many other networks around the world, as well in many movie theaters.
This will be only the second time in his career that Mayweather will be having a rematch, and an immediate rematch at that. In his first fight with Maidana, on May 3 of this year, Mayweather won a majority decision, although most observers had him winning the fight comfortably. Still, Maidana did unexpectedly well in the early rounds, and it took Mayweather some time to adjust to the pressure and power of Maidana. This reminded many of the only other time Mayweather had a rematch, in 2002 with Jose Luis Castillo.
Mayweather, the highest paid athlete in any sport in the world, remains a heavy favorite to win this rematch, and up his record to 47-0.
We spoke with both Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana on their recent media conference calls about what to expect in this rematch. We also heard comments from Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, which is co-promoting this fight with Golden Boy Promotions.
In addition, we got comments on this fight from Jeff Mayweather, a former boxer and current trainer who is Floyd Mayweather's uncle, after the Bellator MMA show this past Friday at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
