No Holds Barred: King Mo On His Suspension, Release From Strikeforce, Controversial Remarks, And The Future

On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman once again speaks with mixed martial arts fighter and former elite freestyle and college wrestler "King" Mo Lawal.

On Tuesday, March 27, the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended and fined "King" Mo because of a positive test for a banned steroid. At the hearing, he said he was there to take his punishment like a man but also explained that the steroid came from an improperly labeled "supplement" he had bought at a retail store. The commission showed him no leniency, suspending him for nine months, starting from his last fight on January 7.

However, midway through the hearing, "King" Mo, a graduate of Oklahoma State University, was asked by commissioner Pat Lundvall if he could understand and read English. He denounced her on Twitter in controversial fashion, referring to her as a "racist bitch". Shortly thereafter, it was announced that he had been released by Strikeforce.

In the swirl of controversy, we spoke with "King" Mo Wednesday afternoon by phone, just about 24 hours after the Nevada commission hearing. We discussed the issues surrounding his suspension and release by Strikeforce, including an in-depth and lively discussion of his controversial comments about Pat Lundvall and why he considered her comments so insulting and unwarranted. We discussed who Pat Lundvall is, including her background as a corporate lawyer.

In addition, we discussed his health and prognosis for returning to training, what plans he now has for the future, what fans can do to support him, and much more.
