No Holds Barred: King Mo Lawal on His Health, Nevada Hearing, Boxing and Wrestling, and Sensei Mo of Harlem

On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman speaks with mixed martial arts fighter and former elite freestyle and college wrestler "King" Mo Lawal.

"King" Mo gets us up-to-date about his recovery from knee surgeries and staph infections, and when he hopes to return to action full-time. He also discussed his upcoming hearing, scheduled for March 27, before the Nevada State Athletic Commission regarding his unintentional use of a banned performance-enhancing substance. We discussed some of the recent major boxing bouts including the Sergio Martinez-Matthew Macklin fight, the many anticipated fights scheduled for the next few weeks, and whether boxing or MMA will be a bigger sport in ten years. "King" Mo explained why he likes to watch the Olympic Wrestling Trials more than the NCAA Wrestling Championships, but we also noted the many problems facing wrestling.

A key part of this discussion involved our mutual admiration for a veteran martial artist from Harlem, Professor Mahaliel Haroom Sha Bethea AKA Sensei Mo of Fight Back MMA. We discussed the importance of Sensei Mo's work training kids in martial arts and self-defense, and "King" Mo's desire to meet him and assist in his work. This represents the true spirit of martial arts and combat sports.
