No Holds Barred: Art Davie and the Return of XARM

On this audio edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman speaks with one of the founders of the UFC, Art Davie.

He is back with a new organization, XARM, featuring a new combat sport which combines arm wrestling and mixed martial arts. XARM originally started in 2008, but for various reasons, as he explained in our interview, it discontinued running events. Now with a mobile game set to debut October 17 and a slate of live events planned to start January 2012, XARM is back.

We spoke with Art Davie Tuesday night by phone about what XARM is and why fight and sports fans should give this new sport, which is itself evolving as did MMA, a chance. He discussed the rules and format, how XARM is already preparing to approach the various athletic commissions for sanctioning, the prospects of a TV deal, how this sport is being tailored for digital and mobile devices, and much more.
