No Holds Barred: Mark Schultz, Rhadi Ferguson, Reviews of MMA World Expo, Dream, UFC

On this edition of No Holds Barred, host Eddie Goldman begins with a commentary on the MMA World Expo, the first such event in New York City, which was held Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, at the Javits Center. This event was deemed a success by just about everyone involved, and you will get an idea why.

We then continue our commentary by discussing and comparing the levels of technique, action, and drama in the Dream and UFC mixed martial arts events of this past weekend. If the pursuit of happiness, a goal in life espoused for millennia, from Aristotle to the United States Declaration of Independence, is our measure, Dream was the certain winner in this respect.

We next present two of the several interviews we conducted at the MMA World Expo, with more to come.

We spoke with wrestling legend Mark Schultz, a 1984 Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion in freestyle wrestling for the U.S., and a three-time NCAA Div. I wrestling champion at Oklahoma. He is also 1-0 in mixed martial arts, and he explained why some records which indicate otherwise are inaccurate. We discussed wrestling, the role of grappling, MMA, and more in a candid interview.

And we spoke with Dr. Rhadi Ferguson, a 2004 U.S. Olympian in judo, and a motivational speaker, trainer, and coach. We discussed the role of grappling in mixed martial arts, his approach to grappling, and much more.
