On this special edition of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman speaks with a legend in the mixed martial arts and that sport's best-known official, Big John McCarthy.
Big John has just retired from being a referee. He now will serve as an analyst for the Canadian-based The Fight Network.
In this extensive interview, we discuss his career, how and why he entered the combat sports world, his views on the need for mixed martial arts to have a truly independent sanctioning body and a fighters' union, the most memorable fights he refereed, and much, much more.
