Dr. Lydia Hartunian, Dr. Michael Shermer, and Eddie Goldman On "Joey Reynolds Show" Wed. Night/Thurs. Morning, Nov. 14/15
Dr. Lydia Hartunian, a professor of humanities and philosophy at a college in Iowa and the author of Godless: A Female Face for Atheism; Dr. Michael Shermer, founding publisher of Skeptic magazine and the executive director of the Skeptics Society; and Eddie Goldman of No Holds Barred, will be guests on the nationally-syndicated "Joey Reynolds Show" Wednesday night/Thursday morning, November 14/15.
The subject will be the Great American God-Out, which takes place Thursday evening, November 15, in New York. Dr. Hartunian is the founder and director of this event.
Dr. Hartunian has described the Great American God-Out “as a 24-hour respite from religion.... The purpose of the event is to live as if there is no God, at least for one day. It seeks to raise awareness of non-theism and acknowledge that morality, ethics and goodness can exist outside of a religious framework."
"People want to see this movement as fun," she added.
Another goal is to draw attention to and advocate for a clearseparation of church and state.
The party for the Great American God-Out will take place at Metro 53 at 307 E. 53rd Street in New York City on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, beginning at 7 PM EST. Tickets are still available.
The "Joey Reynolds Show" is a national radio broadcast in New York on WOR 710 AM and on 100 other stations via the WOR Network. The show airs live beginning at midnight EST and runs to 5 AM EST. We are presently scheduled to come on towards the end of the show.
