SecondsOut Radio: Manny Pacquiao, Plus Lessons of Calzaghe-Manfredo and Clottey-Corrales Fights
On this week's edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman begins by offering some lessons, both positive and negative, highlighted by this past Saturday's fights between Joe Calzaghe and Peter Manfredo Jr., and Joshua Clottey and Diego Corrales. Calzaghe (43-0, 32 KOs), the top super middleweight fighter in the world, scored a one-sided, third-round TKO victory over Manfredo (26-4, 12 KOs) in front of a crowd reported at over 35,000 fans in Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, and shown in the U.S. on HBO. Clottey (31-2, 1 NC, 20 KOs) won a brutal ten-round welterweight battle by unanimous decision over Corrales (40-5, 33 KOs) in a fight from the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, Missouri, and shown in the U.S. on Showtime.
We also preview the April 14 fight between 2006 Fighter of the Year Manny Pacquiao (43-3-2, 33 KOs) and Jorge Solis (32-0-2, 23 KOs), which takes place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and will be shown in the U.S. on pay-per-view television. We spoke with Manny Pacquiao on a media teleconference call about this fight and his plans.
