SecondsOut Radio: Jermain Taylor, Cory Spinks, Kelly Pavlik, Edison Miranda, Kevin Cunningham, Don King, Bob Arum, Lou DiBella
On this week's edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman previews the May 19 fight card, which features a feast of top middleweights.
On that card, which will be held at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee, and shown in the U.S. on HBO, undefeated middleweight world champion Jermain Taylor (26-0-1, 17 KOs) defends his title against the 154-pound champion, Cory Spinks (36-3, 11 KOs). The co-feature has two of the top middleweight contenders in the world, Kelly Pavlik (30-0, 27 KOs) and Edison Miranda (28-1, 24 KOs), facing off against one another.
We spoke with Jermain Taylor, Cory Spinks, and Spinks's manager and trainer, Kevin Cunningham, on a media teleconference call. We also spoke with both Kelly Pavlik and Edison Miranda on another media teleconference call.
In addition, we got comments from Taylor's promoter Lou DiBella on scoring controversies and the choice of opponents for Taylor, Pavlik's promoter Bob Arum on whom he would like Pavlik to fight, and Spinks's promoter Don King on open scoring and instant replay in boxing.
