SecondsOut Radio: Vernon Forrest, Ike Quartey, David Tua, Nick Durandt, Roger Bloodworth, Pete Quillin
On this week's edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman discusses two major fights taking place this coming Saturday, August 5.
We speak with former welterweight champions Vernon Forrest (37-2, 28 KOs) and Ike Quartey (37-2-1, 31 KOs), who face each other at 154 pounds at New York's Madison Square Garden headlining a card which will be shown live in the U.S. on HBO.
We also speak with Nick Durandt, the trainer for Silence Mabuza (19-1, 15 KOs), who will be fighting a rematch with bantamweight champ Rafael Marquez (35-3, 31 KOs) on a card from the MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa in Stateline, Nevada, and shown live in the U.S. on Showtime. Marquez defeated Mabuza by a fourth-round TKO last November.
We also speak with veteran heavyweight David Tua (45-3-1, 39 KOs) about his fourth-round knockout victory over Edward Gutierrez this past Wednesday night at New York's Manhattan Center, and Tua's trainer, Roger Bloodworth. And we speak with unbeaten middleweight Pete "Kid Chocolate" Quillin (6-0, 5 KOs) about his first-round knockout win on that same card.
