SecondsOut Radio: Roman Karmazin and Cory Spinks
On this week’s edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman speaks with IBF 154-pound champion Roman Karmazin (34-1-1, 1 ND, 21 KOs) of St. Petersburg, Russia, and former undisputed world welterweight champion Cory Spinks (34-3, 11 KOs) of St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
Karmazin, considered by many to be the top 154-pounder in the world, defends his title this Saturday, July 8, against Spinks in a fight in the Savvis Center in St. Louis, Spinks's hometown, and which will be telecast live in the U.S. on Showtime.
Karmazin won his title last July by earning a dominant unanimous decision over Kassim Ouma, but has not fought since. This will also be Spinks's first fight at 154, after dropping his welterweight titles to Zab Judah in February 2005, also Spinks's most recent fight.
Plus, we also discuss the state of the 154-pound division, one of boxing's most talent-rich.
