NO HOLDS BARRED: Eddie Goldman Speaks With Jeff Thaler of Whaledog.com

It is a tumultuous time in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA).

There are major allegations in the mainstream media in Japan of corruption and wrongdoing in the largest MMA outfits there, Pride and K-1. Pride has already been kicked off Fuji TV, a major broadcast network in Japan.

In the U.S., the UFC is setting all sorts of ratings records on television. At the same time, their owners are engaging in a war with most of the sport’s media which supported them and covered MMA for many years, including when the sport was banned on American cable television.

Few in what likes to call itself the MMA media have distinguished themselves by reporting on and discussing frankly all these types of issues.

One person who has decided to tackle these controversies head-on is veteran mixed martial arts journalist Jeff Thaler, who has recently revived his blog, Whaledog.com. That, of course, makes Jeff a perfect guest for this show.

On this edition of NO HOLDS BARRED, host Eddie Goldman speaks with Jeff Thaler about these and more controversies involving MMA as well as its media.

Also make sure to read and bookmark his site, at http://www.whaledog.com/.
