  • SecondsOut Radio: Floyd Mayweather Jr., Carlos Baldomir, Joe Calzaghe, Sergei Liakhovich, Shannon Briggs, Juan Diaz, Fernando Angulo, Barry McGuigan, Frank Warren

On this week's packed edition of SecondsOut Radio, host Eddie Goldman, previews the huge weekend of boxing which is approaching.

On Saturday, November 4, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, WBC welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir (43-9-6, 13 KOs) will defend his title against the fighter considered by most to be the top pound-for-pound boxer in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (36-0, 24 KOs). That fight will headline a pay-per-view telecast on HBO in the U.S. We spoke with both Baldomir and Mayweather this past week.

Also on Saturday, November 4, WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich (23-1, 14 KOs), considered by many as among the very best of the fragmented heavyweight division, will defend his title against the former linear heavyweight champion of the world, Shannon Briggs (47-4-1, 41 KOs). That fight will take place at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, and will be shown in the U.S. on Showtime. We spoke with Liakhovich, Briggs, and Liakhovich's manager, Ivaylo Gotzev, this past week.

The co-feature on that Showtime telecast will pit the undefeated WBA lightweight champion Juan Diaz (30-0, 15 KOs) against challenger Fernando Angulo (18-3, 12 KOs). We spoke with both Diaz and Angulo this past week.

Plus, the undefeated WBO and IBF super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe (42-0, 31 KOs), fresh from his victory October 14 over Sakio Bika at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England, was in New York this past week along with promoter Frank Warren to meet with the American boxing media and to finalize their plans for next year. We spoke with both Calzaghe and Warren as well.
